Robert “Bob” K. Munns 1931 - 2018
Our father was a smart, funny, kind, and generous man. His greatest joy was spending time with any and all of his family. He was born in Denver to Kenneth and Mary Munns where he joined his brother Tommy (deceased) and sister Rita in thwarting their parents. The family ended up in Denver after many years on the plains. Daddy joined the army in 1951 and deployed to Korea. While there, he was changed by the terrible and wonderful things he saw and the deep respect he developed for the Korean people. After returning to CO, he worked as a lineman and, as he said, he got smart, quit, and went to college on the GI bill. He graduated from CSU with a degree in Chemistry and started a long, industrious, and lauded career with the FDA. Daddy always said the best thing he ever did was marry our mother, Patricia Gunn of Cripple Creek, CO in 1959. Two daughters came soon after. My sister and I had a truly wonderful childhood with our dad as our favorite playmate. Daddy retired from the FDA in 1994 and enjoyed traveling for several years until our mother’s death in 2000. Afterward, he spent his summers in CO with daughter Nancy and grandson Traye, and winters in FL with daughter Jan and granddaughters Jill and Emma. He was so proud of his grandchildren. He passed away in Longmont on April 8th. He is survived by his daughters, grandchildren, his sister Rita Cawlfield, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A wake in his honor will be held in the Berthoud Community Center on August 11th from 2 to 5pm.
